Victoria and Jason are an artistic couple who wanted their elopement to be romantic, peaceful and immersed in the natural beauty of Colorado. To achieve the quiet, relaxed atmosphere they desired, they chose to elope at sunrise in Golden Gate Canyon State Park. These two were already married, so they skipped the ceremony, but having beautiful photos together in their wedding attire was so important to them so we dedicated the whole day to portraits. Victoria had, hands down, one of the most beautiful wedding gowns I had ever seen – serious Fleetwood Mac vibes. Jason’s wire-wrapped gemstone bolo tie was unique, and the colors created a vibrant contrast against his vest.
Golden Gate Canyon State Park at sunrise did not disappoint on this elopement day – it was the middle of July, so everything was lush and vibrant. When the sun started peeking out from behind the mountains, its soft golden light lit Jason and Victoria up beautifully. As the morning went on, some light clouds rolled in, giving us the softest, dreamiest light!
This vast meadow graced the entrance of Golden Gate Canyon State Park and we ended our day at this spot when the light was the brightest. By this time, our creativity was truly flowing and we were ready to capture some portraits that were more out-of-the-box. We even had a surprise visitation from the local fauna which only made this day even more magical. Jason is a film photographer and he wanted to be sure that he had some time to capture a few images of Victoria looking like a dream with his film camera. I was so happy to have captured them in that intimate moment and it turned out to be one of their favorite photographs of the day. It is so important to incorporate things that are meaningful and bring joy to you on your wedding or elopement day. These are the images that will have all those emotions rushing over you time and time again.
